Polypropylene Twisted Bundle Fiber Description
Polypropylene twist/bunch fiber can be used instead of steel fiber for reinforcement in cement concrete.
Compared with steel fiber, it has the advantage of easy dispersion and blending, no damage to the mixing equipment, etc
The rigid polymer fiber is made from polypropylene and features a rough surface treatment produced by a special parallel-thread extruding & twisting process. It has high break strength, better dispersion, and strong
combining ability, and will be widely used instead of steel fiber to reinforce the cement concrete and make it crack-resistant.
Density(g/cm3) | 0.91 +/- 0.01 | Raw material | PP |
Length(mm) | 20,30,48,50, 54mm | Equivalent Dia(mm) | 0.3±0.05 |
Shape | twisted | break tensile Ratio(%) | 8-15 |
Crack Ratio | 20+/-5 % | Melting point ( C. Deg) | 160-170 |
Tensile Strength | >500 MPa | Water absorbency | NO |
Elastic Modulus (MPa) | >3500 | Resistance to acid & alkali | strong |
Recommended adding 2.0–3.0 kg of fiber per cubic meter of concrete, depending on the application.
1. Ratio design of the fiber concrete:
Generally, the recommended amount to add to the concrete is more than 2.7kg per sqm ( volume ratio is 0.3% ), reinforcement
adding amount is 5.5 kg. Compared with adding 47kg of steel fiber, 5.4 kg of polymer fiber has the same volume ratio to the concrete.
2. length:
48, 50, or 54mm for common crack-resistant requirements.
3. Matching Ratio:
Usually, there is no need to change the concrete's matching ratio.
Considering the requirement of fissure-resistant, the polymer fiber
is recommended to be combined with the polypropylene fiber mesh
the volume ratio of 1:1 (0.9 kg fiber mesh per sqm of cement concrete).
4. Mixer Adoption: Double-axle horizontal compelling mixer is a priority.
5. Mixing process:
Crushed stones, fibers, and sands are put into the mixer in succession.
After stirring for two minutes, the fiber will fully disperse; then add cement and water, and stir as usual. The addition of
materials also can be put into as common concrete, but the stirring time should be properly prolonged to make fiber completely
Mixed.
6. Shaping & Maintenance
There is no special requirement; it may be vibrated for 30 s. The maintenance of fiber concrete should be done the same way as for
normal concrete.
7. Package: 1kg or 0.9kg per bag in common, 10kgs per carton.
May be packed as per customer requirements; water-soluble bag is also available.
| Items | Polypropylene Twisted Fiber | Steel Fiber |
| Mixing performance | Easy to mix, no clumping | Hard to disperse, easy to clump |
| Equipment wear | No damage to mixing machines | Causes serious wear on equipment |
| Corrosion resistance | Never rusts, works well in wet & salty environments | Prone to rust over time |
| Weight | Lightweight, adds little extra load | Heavy weight |
| Construction safety | No sharp edges, safe for workers | Has sharp edges, easy to cause injuries |
| Cost | Cost-effective | Higher price |
| Reinforcement effect | Good for anti-crack, impact resistance & toughening | Higher strength, ideal for extremely heavy-load projects |
1. Q: Is the fiber corrosion-resistant for wet and salty environments?
A: It resists acid, alkali, and chloride ion erosion, and can work stably for a long time in coastal areas, water conservancy projects,
and damp underground environments.
2. Q: Does the fiber disperse easily during concrete mixing?
A: With a well-designed twisted bunch structure, it can disperse automatically and distribute evenly in concrete without clumping.
3. Q: Can it be used together with other concrete admixtures?
A: It has good compatibility. It can be used with water-reducing agents, air-entraining agents, early-strength agents, and other
common admixtures without affecting their performance.
4. Q: Can you supply custom polypropylene bunch fiber?
A: We provide customization on fiber length and packaging, and produce products in line with clients’ project demands and export
standards.
