Sheared steel fibre, full name cold-rolled steel strip sheared steel fibre, is made by high-precision lengthwise and cross-cutting of thin cold-rolled steel strips (0.3–1.2 mm thick). These short steel fibers often have notches, ripples, or hooked ends to boost anchorage and bond with concrete — ideal when you need strong concrete reinforcement.
These high-performance fibers feature:
◆ Enhanced tensile strength (≥500 MPa)
◆ Optimised aspect ratios (L/D:20-100)
◆ Superior concrete adhesion
◆ Custom copper coating available
| Parameter | Specification | Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dimensions (L×Φ) | 20-60 mm × 0.3-1.2 mm | Buckling Resistance | ≥3 test cycles |
| Aspect Ratio (L/D) | 20-100 | Anchor Height | 1.5-2.0 mm surface profiling |
| Tensile Strength | ≥500 MPa | Density | 7.85 g/cm³ (0.00785 g/mm³) |
◆ Cold-working process ensures dimensional consistency
◆ Mechanical anchoring through deformed surface geometry
◆ 450-600 fibers per kilogram (standard size calculation)
◆ Compatible with concrete grades up to C80
Feeding order: Mix sand, aggregates and cement first, then add sheared steel fiber. Never dry mix directly to avoid fiber clumping.
Mixing time: Extend mixing time by 30 to 60 seconds compared with normal concrete, to ensure even fiber distribution.
Pour the mixed concrete right away. Do not leave it standing for too long.
1. Shotcrete (Tunnel, Slope, Foundation Pit)
Common shotcrete thickness: 80mm, 100mm, 120mm, 150mm
80mm thickness: Max allowable length ≈ 53mm. Recommended size: 30mm / 35mm for low rebound and anti-blockage performance.
100mm thickness: Max allowable length ≈ 67mm. Main selection: 30mm / 35mm.
120mm thickness: Max allowable length = 80mm. Regular selection: 30~40mm.
150mm thickness: Max allowable length = 100mm. Recommended size: 35~40mm.
Supplement
For thin shotcrete (thickness < 60mm): Only use fibers ≤ 25mm to prevent fiber exposure and surface particle falling.
2. Cast-in-place Concrete (Floor, Bridge, Structural Members)
Floor & surface layer (100~150mm thickness): Recommended fiber length: 30~35mm.
Thick components, beams & piers (thickness > 150mm): Choose 35~40mm. 40mm is ideal for high-stress structures.
Ultra-thin surface layer (thickness < 80 mm): Fibre length shall be limited to 25~30mm.
At a GlanceDispersion effect: Anionic carboxylic groups adsorb onto positively charged cement particles, creating electrostatic repulsion that breaks down flocculated cement structures and releases entrapped mixing water.Lubricating effect: Extended hydrophilic polyoxyethylene side chains form a den
Sodium Naphthalene Sulfonate (SNF) based admixtures are widely used as high-range water reducers in modern concrete production. By improving cement particle dispersion, SNF helps reduce water demand by around 18% to 28% while maintaining good workability and strength development. Its unique chemical
Global ocean freight keeps rising, with South America routes hit hardest. Traditional liquid PCE superplasticizer only has 40‑50% solid content. Water fills much of the container space, driving up logistics costs and increasing the risk of performance degradation during long‑distance hot sea transport. This article covers three main PCE forms: liquid, powder, and flake, and highlights the merits of flake or powder PCE superplasticizer. Cost simulation based on a 40'GP container shows that high‑solid solid‑form PCE greatly reduces freight cost per ton of active substance. With stable performance, long shelf life, low storage requirements, and good compatibility with ready‑mix concrete and dry mortar, it is a preferred cost‑saving solution for concrete admixture importers and distributors amid surging ocean freight.
